The big fish have been elusive for me the last couple of days, but still have been putting a bunch of fish in the boat. 30-40 mph gusts? No problem! Always a way to catch fish, no matter what…..Started out drifting & caught several fish, then the wind got too bad to drift fish, I went back to one of my favorite ways of fishing, pulled the boat up on the bank & started casting out to a nearby channel, if you wait, they will come, in this case I didn’t have to wait long!
Had a couple of great trips this past week, including an awesome day on the Roanoke River Fishing for Shad, & even caught a few Striper…….Also anchored up on one of my old catfish spots I haven’t fished in years & we put one nice Blue Cat in the boat! An all around fun day, total count of Shad ended up being over 70, but only kept our limit of 10 per person to use for bait the rest of the week.
White Perch are biting good on jigging spoons around the mouths of creeks right now……also, water temp is still pretty low at 48 degrees, with how things are looking, the “spring bite” is going to be a little late this year.
